The Smarkiest Smark in all of Smarkidom!: SOUNDWAVE WAS AMAZING!

smarky-smark:

MY EARS ARE RINGING FROM ALL THE AWESOMENESS!

Didn’t get off to the best of starts. We left late (I BLAME SOMEONE AND HIS LABS and as a result we missed Sevendust. (GUTTED!)

Which meant we had about 30 minutes to kill until Bullet For My Valentine. So we wondered around, listening to random…

Hey, hey, it’s not my fault that Sevendust had their time shifted to coincide with my lab :P

But yeah Bullet was fucking great actually. Mostly new stuff, but “Tears Don’t Fall”, “Hand Of Blood”, “Scream, Aim, Fire” and “Waking The Demon” were still all in the set list.

All that Remains rocked! Played my favourite song in the last 10 minutes. But yeah, I know Jamie’s not a fan.

Primus were pretty casual, weird son of a bitches. But they were great to listen to.
Slash however was fucking awesome! Mostly new stuff, but they played “Sweet Child O Mine” and “Paradise City” from the classic Guns’n’Roses era which set the croud alight.
I have a lot of respect for Slash nowadays. As much as he was the frontman for the band, and sure enough he took the spotlight when the solos came into play; but all in all he let every band member share the spotlight and generally gave the croud some classic rock and roll. Which is more than I could ever say about Axl Rose the ungreatful prick that he is these days.

Then Slayer. Don’t even get me started on Slayer! xD
As Jamie said we were thrown around. I got smashed in the face and lost one of my sunglass lens. Some other guy we saw had a bloody face. It truly was brutal. I managed to get right up close to the stage twice, and managed to stay there about five minutes before getting dragged out with the current.
Also got picked up above the mosh and had to say “Let me fucking down” so security wouldn’t have me miss the show xD
Jamie and I were fucking tired after than shit. Was one fucking epic concert.
YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO A METAL CONCERT UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN IN A SLAYER MOSHPIT! You just get thrown around.

And then Maiden was fucking amazing. They played about half of their 80’s songs and about half of their post 90’s songs (by which I mean ‘Brave New World’ onwards).
Bruce Dickensian still has a lot of fucking energy in him these days, and Dave Murray still has that smile that never leaves his face. The whole band was just incredible to see live.

Can’t wait for the 2012 Soundwave!!! Can’t wait just to see the lineup!
